The Aboriginal community of Broken Hill and the NILSMC Steering Committee look forward to welcoming and meeting the National Indigenous Land and Sea Management Conference delegates at the Opening Ceremony on Tuesday 2 November 2010.

The NILSMC Steering Committee is co-chaired by Chrissy Grant and Mark Sutton. There are 16 committee members including representatives from the Broken Hill Aboriginal community, the local Council and business sector, the Indigenous Advisory Committee and the Indigenous Land Corporation.

The Steering Committee established the Executive, the Events and Media and the Community Engagement sub-committees to continue progressing all aspects of the NILSMC leading up to and during the conference.

Steering Committee Members are:

Chrissy Grant, Co-chair Steering Committee and Chair, Executive sub-committee. Chrissy is also the Deputy Chair of the Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC) to the Hon. Peter Garrett, MP, the Minister for Environment Protection, Heritage and the Arts.

Mark Sutton, Co-chair Steering committee. Mark has been a member of the Broken Hill Aboriginal community for 17 years and is the Indigenous Engagement Facilitator for the 3rd NIL&SM Conference.

Melissa George, committee member. Melissa is the Chair of the Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC) to the Hon. Peter Garrett, MP, the Minister for Environment Protection, Heritage and the Arts.

Eric Roberts, committee member. Eric is the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) representative and is also the Public Affairs Manager for the ILC.

John Harris, committee member and Chair of the Community Engagement sub-committee. John is a representative of the Broken Hill Community.

Patrick (Pat) Laughton, committee member. Pat is the Joint Management Coordinator of the Mutawintji Boardand and is a representative of the Aboriginal community.

Murray Harris, committee member. Murray is the Broken Hill City Council representative.

Linda Nadge, committee member. Linda is the Chief Executive Officer of Regional Development Australia Far West NSW and is a community representative.

Chris Eastwood, committee member. Chris is the Chief Financial Officer of Maari Ma Aboriginal Health Corporation and is a representative of a local Indigenous community organisation.

Helen Healy, committee member and Events Manager of the NILSMC 2010. Helen is the owner of HHO Events.

Kara Smith, committee member and Events Coordinator of the NILSMC 2010. Kara is a Project Manager for HHO Events.

Lee Pearson, committee member. Lee is an Indigenous Land Management Facilitator for the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA).

Marie Ferris, committee member and Chair of the Events and Media sub committee. Marie is the Communications Manager of the Indigenous Policy Branch, DEWHA.

Louise Haigh, committee member. Louise is a member of the Indigenous Policy Branch Communications team, DEWHA.
